Jen O'Flaherty | Scottish Paper Florist
I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2010 with a BA (Hons) in ‘Performance Costume’. In the years that followed I worked in the theatre, as a jewellery maker and even as a wedding videographer! After kissing few frogs I finally found the one – paper floristry. Today I work as a craft teacher running dozens of arts classes each year to hundreds of students across Scotland.
I made many basic (and some very bad) paper flowers over the years, but it wasn’t until the Covid lockdown that I really developed my skills. I studied books, practiced and problem solved, and eventually I was god enough to get my first paper flower commissions.
I have always found crafting helped me manage stress and unwind – losing yourself in an activity and making beautiful things is extremely rewarding! I’m very fortunate to be doing something I’m so passionate about.
